HIRING OF BILL MOORE

Gennaro Bizzarro, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Greater New Britain Chamber of Commerce today announced the hiring of William D. Moore as the new President of the Chamber. Moore comes to New Britain from Berlin, Vermont, where he has served as President and CEO of the Central Vermont Chamber of Commerce Board for the past three and a half years.

Gennaro Bizzarro, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Greater New Britain Chamber of Commerce today announced the hiring of William D. Moore as the new President of the Chamber. Moore comes to New Britain from Berlin, Vermont, where he has served as President and CEO of the Central Vermont Chamber of Commerce Board for the past three and a half years.

“On behalf of the entire Chamber Board and all of its many members, I am pleased to welcome Bill and his wife Maureen to the Greater New Britain community,” said Bizzarro. “We are confident that Bill’s extensive experience guiding various chamber organizations throughout his career will allow him to hit the ground running as the new President of the Greater New Britain Chamber of Commerce.”

Vice Chairman and Interim President Kyle Kummer echoed Bizzarro’s comments. “We are delighted to have Bill Moore become the new face of the Chamber,” said Kummer. “We had over 100 well qualified applicants for the position, but Bill really stood out because of his experience and the vision that he articulated for the future of the Chamber.”

Moore has decades of experience advising Chambers of Commerce and related business groups and trade associations, including several in Connecticut. He has worked as a consultant on governmental and media relations, marketing, member development, and strategic planning, and has served as chief executive of several New England associations. During his tenure with the Central Vermont Chamber, Moore helped develop and implement the organization’s strategic plan, provided guidance to the group’s board of directors, and was instrumental in launching new initiatives such as the Central Vermont Young Professionals group.

Moore will officially begin his duties July 15th, but has already started to contact Chamber members to introduce himself. Moore had this to say about jumping right into his new role: “I am honored to have been offered the position of President of the Greater New Britain Chamber of Commerce. This is an exciting opportunity, to take the helm of such a vibrant organization. Working with a strong Board of Directors, the Greater New Britain Chamber of Commerce will continue to move forward, in a very positive direction representing our members’ interests. I look forward to being part of the future of the Greater New Britain Chamber of Commerce, the voice of the business community.”

Bizzarro also thanked Kummer for guiding the Chamber through the search for a new President. “I want to thank Kyle for his exemplary service to the Chamber since taking over as interim President a few months ago. Because of Kyle’s leadership and dedication, the Chamber finds itself well positioned as we move forward and make this transition.”

The Greater New Britain Chamber of Commerce is a business membership organization with more than 400 members from the Greater New Britain business community. The Chamber of embodies the business and civic interests of the community at large.
