Business Development/Marketing Committee
The Business Development Committee is responsible for identifying and managing opportunities for members to enhance and expand their own business prospects. Includes Welcome Signs, web-based advertising, webinars, etc. The committee will consider The Chamber brand and ways to enhance it and review The Chamber’s communications practices.
The Education Committee is responsible for developing seminars and expanded programs for the membership. The seminars and programs will be designed to keep members updated on current changes in state and federal laws, technology, workforce development issues and other matters enabling members to remain one step ahead of the competition.
The Events Committee is responsible for overseeing The Chamber’s offerings. This includes the Annual Meeting, Breakfast Programs; the Golf Outing and other major undertakings.
The Finance Committee is responsible for assisting in the development of the Annual Budget. In addition, the committee will monitor income and expenditures and will, in conjunction with the President, make appropriate recommendations to the Board of Directors for Budget adjustments.
The FuterDevelopment Committee is responsible for identifying and developing new revenue streams for The Chamber. Once identified, these opportunities will be sent to the appropriate committees for implementation. The committee focuses on identifying the value and activities of the Chamber consistently, effectively and efficiently.
The Manufacturing Council will identify hurdles and recommend solutions to the challenges facing manufacturing in Greater New Britain. Among other things, the council will be engaged in Workforce Development initiatives, helping to develop the talent pipeline.
The Membership Committee serves as The Chamber’s Ambassadors. They are a member-to-member contact group who solicit input to determine if The Chamber is meeting members’ expectations. The Ambassadors will meet members each month, promoting involvement with The Chamber, attendance at events, etc.
The Nominating Committee presents a slate of Officers and Directors to the Board of Directors for election to the respective offices by the membership at the Annual Meeting. The committee makes recommendations to the Board to fill vacancies that may occur during the year.
Public Policy Committee
The Public Policy Committee will make recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding legislative initiatives that The Chamber will engage in on the local, state and federal levels. The committee will prepare policy statements on issues affecting the business community. The committee will also develop strategies for implementing the policies once they are adopted by the Board.
