Kyle Kummer, Interim President
Kyle is proud to have been born and raised in the city of New Britain. His family’s roots in New Britain date back to the early 1900s. In 1922 they opened a stone quarry and apple orchard, which was active for over half a century; they delivered the stone on horse drawn wagons, and supplied many of the local neighborhood markets with fruit and vegetables. He went through the New Britain Public School system and was very active during his time there. In high school, Kyle was a captain of his football team, a Hartford Courant 1st Team All State football player, and helped lead the Hurricanes to a state championship in 2001. He was also a madrigal singer and went on two European tours with the singing ensemble, visiting the sister cities of New Britain in Germany (Rastatt) and Poland (Pultask). On the latter trip, the group performed at Teatr Wielki, the Polish National Opera in Warszawa. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in Finance from Rutgers University in New Jersey. At Rutgers he was a member of the Scarlet Knight football team which appeared in three bowl games, winning the last two. Kyle wanted to come back to the central Connecticut area after college to start his career in the financial and insurance business. Kyle has been involved with the Greater New Britain Chamber for more than 10 years, and was most recently the Vice Chairman of the group. When not working, Kyle enjoys spending time with his eight year old son Aiden. He is passionate about the city of New Britain, and is determined to help lead the chamber until a new President is named.
