Vintage Car Event Helps Children and Youth Overcome the Effects of Trauma
Pre-1979 Vintage Cars Appear at the Klingberg Vintage Motorcar Series Saturday, May 18th

New Britain, CT – Saturday, May 18, from 9:00 AM to noon, the Klingberg Vintage Motorcar Series event will feature antique, pre-1979 cars and a special display of unique vintage trucks. In addition to older antiques, woodies, and street rods, spectators will enjoy seeing a 1909 Chase Express delivery truck, 1925 Ford tow truck, 1957 Divco Ferndale milk truck, and a 1953 Ford Connecticut Light & Power truck. How’s that for variety! As one spectator put it about a past show, “I really appreciate the older cars; those gorgeous cars make my heart beat faster.”
Now in its 27th year, the Vintage Motorcar events attract car owners and enthusiasts who are drawn to the event to give back to children and families and see great cars at Klingberg Family Centers’ hilltop campus in New Britain. All proceeds of the event will go to Klingberg Family Centers’ programs helping children and families
Trophies will be given out at the end of the event, including a special trophy awarded by the Connecticut Street Rod Association. In addition to the gathering of unique cars, the event will highlight a new program at Klingberg Family Centers, the Klingberg Nexus Professional Development Center. Come and see the recently completed state-of-the-art conference center. Klingberg Family Centers is already a national resource for trauma-informed treatment and training. The new conference center will allow Klingberg to train more people and provide a meeting space for client gatherings and a place for internal and external groups to collaborate and learn.
Toasted will serve coffee and breakfast, and the Klingberg History Museum will be open during the event. In addition, the Klingberg Motorcar Series Hall of Honor will honor 12 different people who spent their lives working with automobiles. Family lawn games and crafts will also be part of the fun. Free spectator parking will be on the Klingberg campus at 370 Linwood Street, New Britain.
Mark Johnson, Vice President at Klingberg Family Centers, says, “Our events raise vital funding for programs serving children and families throughout Connecticut. In addition, we aim to bring families together around the common experience of cars and to encourage the future of the automobile hobby.”
General Admission is $10. Seniors 65+ $8. Children 12 and under are free. Parking for the May event is located on Klingberg’s New Britain campus, 370 Linwood Street, New Britain, and is free. Event cancellations or delays will be posted on www.KlingbergMotorcarSeries.org and on Facebook.
Founded in 1903, Klingberg Family Centers is a private, nonprofit multi-service agency providing help to thousands of persons across Connecticut each year through twenty distinct programs besides Raymond Hill School.
