Taste of Greater New Britain
The Taste of Greater New Britain is typically held in conjunction with the Nutmeg State Games. The two to three week long event features multicourse price-fixed menus from some of New Britain and Berlin’s finest and most diverse restaurants.
Advertising for the event is paid for by the Chamber. Newspaper ads are placed in The New Britain Herald, The New Britain City Journal, and the Polish newspaper, The White Eagle, for the duration of the event. Flyers are distributed to all participating restaurants as well as community hotspots.
Solicitation for The Taste of Greater New Britain begins in the spring. If you are a restaurant interested in participating in this year’s event, please call or email the Chamber today!
Annual Meeting & Dinner
Every November the Chamber honors local businesses and individuals from the New Britain and Berlin communities at the Annual Meeting & Dinner. The categories include ‘Non-Profit of the Year’, ‘Family Business of the Year’, ‘Beehive Business & Industry Award’, ‘Winged Victory Downtown Business Award’, and ‘Distinguished Community Service Award’.
This tradition dates back to September 16, 1914 when the Chamber’s president, Ernest W. Christ, and Arthur H. Andrews organized the first Annual Dinner & Meeting in Turner Hall (currently Martinez Boxing Club). With over 500 citizens attending the event it quickly gained popularity in the City. The New Britain Herald even said the evening “will mark a new era in the history of New Britain.” It was even named the “social event for the season” by many community members.
Annual Golf Outing
The Annual Golf Outing is a signature mid-summer event that attracts businesses of all sizes for a day of golfing and networking with other Chamber members. After 18 holes of golf, the golfers attend a special dinner and raffle. All of the golf outing winners are acknowledged and awarded during the dinner for their accomplishments.
The outing is not just a networking event, but one of the Chamber’s largest fundraising efforts with a portion of the proceeds going directly towards the Chamber’s Scholarship Fund which is awarded annually to local high school seniors continuing their education in a business related field.
